The Plant Containers

Made out of a halved 15 gallon tank, the plant tanks are situated in the area where they can get the most sunlight. The plant tanks contain various types of plants, both floating and rooted. The rooted ones are rooted in a rock/dirt layer on the bottom of the tank, and they have parts of them up above to get air. The floating plants, such as the lili-pads and some types of "weeds", help with certain types of oxidation. Both of these tanks have the water coming into them in such a way that they bubble and become oxygenated. This bubbling is accompanied with a physical bubbler since they need oxygen even while the pump is off. Once we get the real pump working though, we won't have to worry about a bubbler.

Plants are useful in this living machine because of their ability to convert the many wastes in to more usable forms, for both the plants themselves as well as the fish.
